Sorting Data Excel:- Hi Readers, here we start the topic of  ‘sorting data excel’. Filtering is a method of viewing the data that meets the specified criteria, it hides the remaining information, which makes it easier for the user to interpret the data. It basically shows specific data on the worksheets. It is different from the sorting as it does not recorder the data. Instead, it hides the data that does not meet the filter criteria.

A filter can be applied by selecting the Filter option in the Sort & Filter drop-down button under the Home tab.

With the help of filtering, you can modulate your data according to your need, filtering will help you to find the exact data whatever you want.

This feature is applied by using the Custom Auto filter dialog box, the Custom Auto Filter dialog box is displayed by clicking the filter drop-down arrow in the column is which Filter is applied, and then selecting the Custom Filter option under Text Filters or Number Filters.

Note- The Filter option such as Text Filters or Number Filters appear based on the values of the column in which the filter is applied.

In the Custom Auto filter dialog box, you can select the conditions from the drop-down lists on the left and values of the columns from the drop-down lists on the right. These conditions on the columns are applied by using the logical AND and OR criteria.

Techniques for Sorting Data Excel:-

The Custom Filter feature on the numeric data is applied by selecting the following conditions.

  • Equals– This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which equals to the selected values.
  • Does not Equal- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which do not equal to the selected values.
  • Greater than – This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values greater than the selected values.
  • Greater than or equal to- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values greater than or equal to the selected values.
  • Less than- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values less than the selected values.
  • Less than or equal to- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values less than or equal to the selected values.
  • Begins with- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values that begin with specified characters.
  • Ends with- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values that end with specified characters.
  • Contains- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values that contain specified characters.
  • Does not Contains- This condition filters the numeric data in worksheets by filtering the data, which corresponds to the values that do not contain with specified characters.
